last call for blooming marvellous gardens
Chorley Community Housing are urging local residents to submit their entries for an annual garden competition before the fast approaching closing date of Friday 10th August 2012.
More than £400 is available in prizes with £100 for the winner of the best overall garden with the CCH annual ‘Blooming Marvellous’ garden competition.
Nick Halstead, Neighbourhood Development Assistant at CCH said “Although we’ve had a bit of washout of a summer, it’s still possible, with a bit of hard work and creativity to come up with a magnificent display of summer vibrancy. The competition is open to anyone living on an estate or street where CCH have properties regardless of whether they are an owner or tenant.â€
This year’s competition is being sponsored by local garden supplier Birkacre Nursery and Garden Centre.
Nick added “If you’re unsure of how to make an entry we are happy to help and can even fill out an application and take photos on your behalf.â€
“The entry categories are best communal garden, best individual garden, best sheltered garden and best use of a small space. You can even enter the competition if all you have is a nice window box or hanging basket!â€
The winner of each category, as well as The Garden of the Year Award 2012, will be judged byChorleyand Leyland Guardian reporter Charlotte Wareing.
For more details on the garden competition and to make an entry please contact CCH on 01257 244 800 or simply click here to download the entry form, but you must be quick as the closing date of Friday 10th August is almost upon us.
