Gorton football team, East Central FC, has secured funding via the Adactus Neighbourhood Fund to buy a new kit for the under 12s as well funding to put two of their volunteers on an FA coaching course. Adactus Housing Association have supported the team for a number of years through their tenant controlled Neighbourhood Fund. The team train in Ardwick. Abbey Hey saw a summer of sporting activities for local children take place on Vine Street Park thanks to Adactus Housing Association. Adactus worked with Mancunian Way, an anti-social behaviour charity to provide a multi sport holiday programme.  The programme included football, cricket, running and a tug of war with the local PCSOs, with the aim of reducing anti-social behaviour over the summer break.  Approximately 22 young people took part, and also got involved when it came to  picking up litter at …

Young people living in South Manchester have been learning new skills through a very successful basketball camp. The camp was set up following a cash injection from the Adactus Neighbourhood Fund that helped provide basketball coaches. The Greater Manchester Community Basketball (GMCB) engagement project was a week long camp for young people in and around South Manchester, taking place at the Amaechi Basketball Centre, Whalley Range. Chorley Community Housing are inviting local residents who are seeking work to come along to their jobs club which has been running from their St Thomas’s Road building for the past eleven months. The club was set up to help people who are seeking work with things such as basic computer skills, interview techniques, career advice and confidence building to ensure that they are ready for employment.  The club is open to tenants and residents from across the Chorley area. Adactus Housing has supported residents in Gorton to work together to create a sense of pride and community spirit by donning their rubber gloves and collecting 60 bags of rubbish from Sunnybrow Park and the surrounding areas.
