Chorley Community Housing are inviting local residents who are seeking work to come along to their jobs club which has been running from their St Thomas’s Road building for the past eleven months. The club was set up to help people who are seeking work with things such as basic computer skills, interview techniques, career advice and confidence building to ensure that they are ready for employment.  The club is open to tenants and residents from across the Chorley area. Adactus Housing has supported residents in Gorton to work together to create a sense of pride and community spirit by donning their rubber gloves and collecting 60 bags of rubbish from Sunnybrow Park and the surrounding areas. With help and support from the Adactus Neighbourhood Fund, Manchester City Council Clean City Grant, Eastlands Homes and Oasis, East Manchester, the residents rolled up their sleeves to clear the local area of rubbish and also brighten the park by planting daffodils & blue bells, …

Adactus Housing Association is supporting the LINK Good Neighbours Project for a third year. LINK works to combat social isolation and loneliness among older people and adults with health problems or disabilities in the Moss Side, Fallowfield and Rusholme area. One part of the LINK project is to organise and run regular social activities along with a number of trips further afield. Last year they ran 103 activities with 185 older people participating. The Adactus Housing Group is working in partnership with the Association of Gas Safety Managers (AGSM) and CORGI to campaign for a change in the law to allow housing associations the same swift and efficient way to carry out gas safety checks as local authorities. Existing law rightly commits housing associations each and every year to check that gas appliances and flues in their properties are safe. We are very happy to report that the Adactus500 Scrutiny exercise on damp and condensation has been successfully completed. The Scrutiny Panel, made up of eight residents from across the Adactus Group, met over three meetings between May and July and produced a set of recommendations for our Board members to consider. These recommendations, and the response to them from Adactus management, were presented to the Group Audit Committee in August.
