Chorley Community Housing completed a £350,000 makeover of the Greenside estate in Euxton, Chorley  in November 2012.  The occasion has been marked by the planting of a shrub by Lindsay Hoyle MP. Improvements to the estate include blocking up of unwanted ginnels, creating new front gardens for residents, improved street lighting and the provision of additional car parking. A derelict site which has lain empty for almost 40 years has been transformed by the completion of 18 new homes for rent in Birkdale by Adactus Housing Association. The £2.2m housing development at Brewery Place, off Upper Aughton Road, is on the site of a former factory once owned by Webbs, a company that specialised in brewing ginger beer and herbal medicines. An eye catching development of new homes in Preston has been hailed a success. The 25 houses – at Crummock Road, Fishwick – have been built by Community Gateway Association in Preston.  The scheme, which cost £2.5m, replaces flats that had been built in the 1930s in a road formerly known as Patterdale Close. After the success of last year, the Adactus Neighbourhood Fund is now going forward into its third year. At the heart of the fund are local residents making decisions for their local area. All the awards are made through local Residents Judging panels in the areas where Adactus have homes. In 2010 / 2011 we funded community projects totalling £200,000 across the North West. Adactus is the first housing association in the country to make a successful start on site claim under the Homes and Communities Agency’s (HCA) Affordable Homes Programme. The payment has been made on a scheme of 16 two bedroom apartments at Flixton in Trafford, near Manchester.  Practical completion for the scheme is scheduled for January 2013.
