CCH Neighbourhood Fund Oversubscribed
A £50,000 pot of money set aside by Chorley Community Housing (CCH) for neighbourhood regeneration has been overwhelmed by bids. The fund, now in its second year, has received over 40 applications totalling almost £130,000. Now tenants from CCH are getting ready to judge the bids and decide where the cash should be spent.
CCH Neighbourhood Officer Chris Richardson said: “We could spend this year’s Neighbourhood Fund almost three times over. It’s very pleasing that we’ve had so much interest but obviously it also means that we’re not going to be able to help everyone who’s asked for cash.”
Proposals submitted by community groups from across Chorley include schemes for additional fencing and lighting on estates through to money to pay for a trip to the pantomime. Chris Richardson said: “The judging panel will be meeting during July and August to decide which bids should be supported. It will be CCH tenants who decide where the cash should be spent.”
