Adactus goes green
Our efforts to reduce Adactus Housing Group’s impact to the environment have been officially recognised by the Carbon Trust. We have developed a plan to help reduce our carbon footprint by 25% over the next five years.
One of only 40 organisations across the UK, Adactus worked with the Carbon Trust during 2011 to produce a detailed carbon management plan. The Plan includes a range of projects that focus on helping us reduce emissions from our buildings, reduce the need for staff travel, greening of company vehicles and generating a green culture across the Group.
The delivery of these projects will reduce Adactus’s carbon footprint by almost 6400 tonnes of carbon. At the same time, the plan will enable the Group to avoid energy related costs of £1.2 million over five years – with on-going annual savings of £400,000. To ensure the successful delivery of the plan, we have formed a carbon steering group made up of representatives from across the group who will be overseeing the delivery of individual projects.
Natalie Myers, Climate Change Manager at Adactus, who accepted the certificate from the Carbon Trust, said: “We are delighted to receive this national recognition for our plan to help reduce Adactus’s impact on the environment. Our steering group and all staff are committed to ensure that the projects outlined in the plan are delivered successfully and over the next five years we will see a 25% drop to our carbon footprint.â€
