The New Mossbrook Community Garden was bustling with activity on Tuesday, when Greater Manchester Police chose the garden to hold a ‘Meet & Greet the Community day as part of their Harpurhey Police Week of Action. Bosses at Chorley Community Housing (CCH) have welcomed Government proposals to make tenancy fraud a criminal offence. Under the plans, announced this week, Housing Minister Grant Shapps MP has suggested that tenants who move out of their home and hand the keys to someone else could face a prison term and a fine of up to £50,000. Lune Valley Rural Housing Association has appointed a new Chair. Hugh Clay, a 50 year old solicitor, lives in Brookhouse near Lancaster. He has been a Board member with Lune Valley since 2006 and takes responsibility for the 77 home organisation following the retirement of his predecessor, Anthony Dalby, who remains on the Board. The Baptist Church on Lee Street, Atherton has benefited from a recent makeover to its kitchen.  The makeover was courtesy of local housing association, Adactus who own Ambergate, the sheltered housing scheme adjacent to the church. Chorley Community Housing have handed over £50 towards Chorley FC’s fighting fund after a collection amongst its staff. The cash was donated by staff after they dressed in black and white in support of Chorley FC, who play in black and white and whose nickname is the Magpies. The monies were handed over by CCH Director of Operations Richard Houghton to Chorley FC’s Commercial Manager John Derbyshire ahead of the Magpies’ recent home match against Ferriby United.
