Chorley Community Housing (CCH) tenant Nellie Evans celebrated her 100th birthday in style this week. Nellie, who has lived at St Gregory Place in Chorley for over 50 years, started the celebrations with a party at Chorley F.C.’s Victory Park on Saturday 10th December which was followed up with a family gathering at her home on her big day Wednesday 14th December. A ‘Black and White Day’ at one of Chorley’s biggest town centre employers has helped raise money for cash strapped Chorley Football Club. Staff from Chorley Community Housing (CCH) dressed in the colours of their favourite football team and paid £2 for the privilege of showing their support for the Evo-Stik Northern Premier League club, which is facing financial difficulties after irregularities in the club’s accounts were uncovered. Tenants of Chorley Community Housing (CCH) are being advised to watch out for illegal money lenders in the run up to Christmas. The lenders – sometimes called loan sharks – prey on vulnerable communities by offering easy money without paperwork or the need to go through a complicated form filling process. Chorley Community Housing (CCH) has announced its opening hours over the Christmas holiday period. The 3,000 home landlord has also announced that from January 2012 it’s offices will open later in the mornings and close earlier in the afternoon. The Gillibrand Street offices will be open until 6pm on Friday 23rd December 2011 but will then be closed until 8.45am on Tuesday 3rd January 2012. Sausage rolls and mince pies were on the agenda when sheltered housing tenants at The Ryes in Heapey summoned Chorley Community Housing (CCH) staff to a Christmas meeting to mark the opening of their new log cabin. The cabin was provided by monies from CCH’s Neighbourhood Fund. Residents have decided to name the cabin ‘Ann’s Haven’ in memory of Ann James.
