Completion of a £7m project to help regenerate the Durham Street area of Whelley in Wigan has been marked by the planting of a tree by Lisa Nandy, MP for Wigan. 49 new homes for rent, featuring a range of energy saving measures that will enable tenants to minimise their heating costs, have been built by Adactus Housing Association. Thanks to the Adactus Housing Association Neighbourhood Fund and the Princes’ Trust Adactus residents at Clement Court, a sheltered housing scheme in Openshaw have a garden that they can enjoy and look after. The residents were successful with their application to the Adactus Neighbourhood Fund in 2010 and secured £600 donation of soil and £1,200 of funding to purchase 4 raised planters to help keen gardeners at the scheme. We will be publishing our annual report for tenants later in the year. This is the second in a series of articles about the year just finished. We would like your feedback to help prepare our annual report. Tenants of Adactus Housing Association living in Lancaster and Morecambe are being urged to join a new residents’ panel. The group – called LAMP – covers the north Lancashire area. Adactus Regional Manager Mike Murphy said: ‘LAMP stands for Lancaster and Morecambe and Preston, which is the areas we’re looking to draw representation from.
